Doctor Who: Then vs. Now
THIS.
Thanks so much, Moffat.
star trek: the original series, “errand of mercy”
“what are the odds now?”
“less than seven thousand to one, captain....
i’m all for not hating on female characters who happen to get into a relationship with one of the parts of a homosexual ship. but, come on.
can we...
god damnit now I can’t stop thinking about how freaking messed UP it is that monsters are sent to purgatory
like, when you think of some of the rude ass violent things like the wendigo or the super violent vampires or what have you, you’re like “welp, you kinda deserved this, homeslice”
but then you think about that rugaru dude who was a loving husband and soon to be father, or those innocent dumb little college kids from Bitten, or the vegetarian vampires, or Amy, or all the werewolves that never even knew that they turned into something else each month
like, how freaking unfair is that shit for them? They tried to be good despite the crappy hand they were dealt, and they were still condemned to this eternity of violence and chaos. Well, eternity until I’m sure they got their asses handed to them by those who are more at home in that environment
I just :[ that’s just so not fair
Want it to get a little more depressing?
What happens to Amy’s little kitsune son when he can’t find any cadavers to eat and he won’t kill anyone and he starves to death.
What was he do you think, eight years old? He’ll do real well in purgatory. What about all the monster crib deaths? The monster toddlers that die from allergies or the flu or just fucked up accidents?
Fuck you, little babies, you’re monsters. Have fun in purgatory.

So I’m reading Dante and I was discussing it with someone and then it turned to discussion of Supernatural and they asked ‘in the promos for purgatory, are there lots of stones?’ and I was like ‘in the promos cas is sitting surrounded by stones and stuff’ and then they said Dante’s purgatory supposedly was a mountain of stones with forests and valleys and fields and was built on terraces and I was researching and I found this
Dean and Cas fighting monsters in Purgatory!
Aaaaaah I can’t believe it’s finally done! This has taken me weeks. I’ve never done a painting as detailed and elaborate as this one before, so I’m really glad I managed to finish it without growing tired of it. That’s mostly thanks to arteedus though, who watched pretty much the entire process of this and provided encouragement and support throughout. <3

Castiel in purgatory, trying to find his way back to Dean.
#sometimes it’s an abandoned city #sometimes it’s the desert #sometimes he descends into the deepest darkest caves #purgatory is vast #and castiel traverses the entire length and breadth looking for dean

In purgatory, you want to stay away from the trees.

Guise, can we just take a second and really think about this? Hiatus sucks—I think we can all agree on that—and instead of moaning and bitching about having to wait until freakin’ October to get the Purgatory storyline, what did this fandom do?
We took Purgatory, a place that got maybe two minutes of screen time at the end of the season, and we fleshed it out, gave it life, and created a mythology for the place: rules of physics, laws of time, theories on which monsters populate it and which don’t.
There’s something absolutely incredible about this fandom.

No doubt. I have read some genuinely breathtaking, creeptastic stories in the past couple of months, and no matter what goes up on the screen, I’m really glad I got to read them. (And because even if I don’t get to see Sam ride in to the rescue, I at least got to read about it.) I can’t say I’m ever glad for a hiatus, but this hiatus produced some seriously good pseudo-horror that I haven’t seen in Supernatural fiction since reality-warping hell stuff was common, I guess. Super impressed.
Day two in purgatory: Dean finds Cas back after the first shift and the fun begins …
Time is different in purgatory. It comes and goes in waves. Sometimes a day is like an hour, sometimes like a week. It feels liquid, without form or structure. Everything does; it’s like purgatory is always changing. A place between places like the sand in an hour glass right before it falls from one chamber into the other. Not here, but also not there yet. It feels like an illusion, which is probably the point. At the end of each wave everything shifts: their surroundings, the light, even themselves. Wounds are healed, bones are set back together and they are ready for another round of running, hiding, surviving.
